birth
belongs. to. the. family.
I first fell in love with birth in nursing school.
But I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were
Doing it wrong.
And then I learned about Midwives. I knew this was my path. My passion lies in giving power back to women, back to the family and back to birth. I love being able to spend my career supporting women throughout their lives in their health and wellness, and consider it a true honor to share my knowledge and support them throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I am a Certified Nurse Midwife and fall in the approximately 1-2% of CNMs who attend home birth in the United States. I consider myself a guardian of normal birth. I believe in shared decision making and informed consent, which I always found a sticking point in hospital-based birth. While I do believe that hospitals and surgeons have a place in the birth world, and am so thankful for them when they are necessary, I believe that the vast majority of women who are having low risk births deserve the choice to do so in their own home, surrounded by their own things, by their people and without unnecessary intervention. The data backs this up. Midwives have a long history of non-traumatic, healthy birth outcomes for mother and baby. I would love to talk to you more about home birth and if we are a good fit for care!
Due to the demands of my practice, as well as the fact that I value work/life balance and try to practice what I preach to my clients, I limit home birth availability to avoid burnout. Inquire for availability for your due window.
Please reach out via email to kaylafrankscnm@gmail.com with questions, or to schedule a free home birth consultation to see if we are a good fit. Please include your name, contact information, estimated due date and previous birth history (number of babies and hospital/birth center/home birth), as well as any other information you would like me to know!
