Hi, I’m kayla franks, cnm, whnp-bc.

I am so excited to be able to provide respectful wellness care to the women of this community with a focus on shared decision making.

What does this mean? To me, shared decision making means that my job is to guide and provide education, information and options to my clients. You are the expert of your body. My job is to listen, and really hear my clients, to understand your goals and help you reach them.

I believe that wellness care is the most important part of healthcare. By working together as a team to keep you WELL, we can keep your body feeling its best and keep the emphasis on quality of life.

My Approach

The initial visit with me is a 90 minute visit in which we do a deep dive into your medical history, family history, health goals, diet and lifestyle and questions and concerns. We develop a plan going forward for your wellness care. This visit includes orders for lab work as indicated, a Pap smear if desired and a mammogram referral if needed.

holistic approach

In my training at Georgetown, we focused on Cura Personalis, which means caring for the whole person. I left a medical system in which I was expected to see patients in 7-10 minutes because I do not believe it is possible to give quality care in that environment. When we work together, you will be heard, your concerns addressed and your body, mind and spirit included in the assessment and care plan.

Trauma informed care

Respectful care includes asking permission before touching people’s bodies and giving the power back to the client. In my office, you are ALWAYS in control of your body. When I do pelvic exams, they are gentle, respectful and performed without stirrups. I provide my clients with a cozy blanket instead of paper gowns. My goal is always to make my clients as comfortable as possible.
